CONCRETE SEALING PROCESS

OUR PROCESS FOR CONCRETE SEALING & RESEALING for Rochester, NY Weather

Whether you have stamped concrete, decorative concrete, or textured concrete, sealing it is the best way to prevent it from deterioration and keep it looking tip-top for years to come. Sealing your concrete provides a barrier that protects it against such as standing water, chemicals, UV rays that can fade colored concrete, freeze-thaw cycles experienced in our Rochester, NY, area, and normal wear-and-tear.

Preparing the Concrete Surface for Sealing

1. Concrete Surface Prep

•  Existing Concrete that is Unsealed

If your concrete was never sealed, then all dirt, dust, stains, grease, and oil will need to be removed with our professional power washing system. If needed, we may need to use a wet abrasive sandblasting alternative.

•  Previously Sealed Concrete

For concrete that has sealer but it has worn off or is failing in some way, it will need to be removed using a sandblasting alternative (described above) which will strip the old sealer and etch the concrete surface so that the new sealer will adhere properly. After the concrete is completely dry, an acrylic sealer will be applied.

Concrete Sealer Curing and Maintenance

2. Apply the Concrete Sealer

Once the surface of your concrete is completely dry, CONCRETE DOC+ will apply two coats of sealer for optimal protection. A thin layer of sealer will be applied first using a sprayer or roller. After the first layer is dry, a second coat of sealer will be applied in the opposite direction of the first coat. This is the best way to protect your investment.

3. Time to Cure

The sealer will need to fully dry and cure before walking or driving on it. The longer the sealant is allowed to cure, the stronger and more durable it will be. It's generally recommended to wait up to three days before allowing foot traffic. We also recommend that you call CONCRETE DOC+ every two to three years to have your concrete resealed to keep it protected and maintain its aesthetics.
